HOT SPRING CAPITAL OF JAPAN
Oita is the hot spring capital of Japan, boasting the most Onsens throughout the country. The area has magnificent scenery, and hikers can enjoy treks up Mount Yufu and Mount Kuju.
Green tourism is very well developed in Oita Prefecture, hence there are great farm stays and fishing villages where you can spend a few days and absorb the local culture.
For children adventure visit the African Safari Park and Umi-Tamago Aquarium.
Take a walk on Kokonoe Yume Bridge, the longest and highest pedestrian only suspension bridge in Japan.
Oita, Fukuoka and Kumamoto are all venues for RWC 2019, and all three cities are accessible using the JR (Japanese Rail) Northern Kyushu pass. (A 3 or 5 day pass can be purchased for unlimited travel) The pass also takes in the city of Nagasaki, of great historical interest, but not a RWC 2019 venue.
